Choiceworks (App) – There are several different visual schedule apps out there, but this one is our favorite.  You can set timers, and options, and even create your icons. We are obsessed with all of the features. It’s the number one app we recommend to parents because you can access your schedules from all your devices.

Online-Stopwatch Sensory Timers (Website) – Whenever we are consulting in schools, we check to see if teachers are implementing a visual timer (especially for our earlier learners who can’t read clocks yet). If they don’t currently have a visual timer, we share with them this website. It’s free to use and you don’t have to set up an account. There’s a large variety and you can also change the colors.

Melissa & Doug Responsibility/Chore Charts – When teaching routines or following a schedule – we recommend the Choiceworks App. However, when it comes to building motivation for kiddos to complete their chores we like to use the Melissa & Doug magnet charts.

Visual Aides/Cue Cards – Both educators and parents can benefit from visual aids and cue cards. We even had to put up a visual sign to help remind our kids to close the bathroom door – and it worked like a charm. The beauty of the visual aides is you can create your own and post them around the home or classroom, or you can save digital photos to your phone to open when needed, or print and laminate smaller versions and keep them on a keyring.
